For week 11 of my year long recitation project I recite a poem by Charles Simic. Miracle Glass is a perfect poem; a poet seeing exactly and sharing it simply.

I wasn’t familiar with that poem, thanks for the introduction. It was funny to hear you recite without the accompanying pigs and birds…. I’ve gotten used to their poetic chorus, haha!
That’s wonderful! I miss my birds too, though there are plenty here, but the house is so massive you don’t hear them inside except at night. I love Charles Simic. This poem is from A Wedding in Hell. His work is generally more abstract; I’ve been trying to stick with poems that are easier to follow since I’m reciting. His imagery is so challenging, he is carnal, innocent. Definitely worth a peek. But perhaps, you are familiar with him, just not that poem?
I love the thought of the images appearing but never again in the same way. Such great images too. I’ll have to check out more of his poems – thank you!
So glad you liked it Sheila. That poem is from A Wedding in Hell. I recommend the whole book.
I am looking forward to reading this book! Wonderful.
So glad you enjoyed the poem!
